Meet Mr. FancyPants!
Wednesday, 01 September 2010 15:48
This is the newest monkey, Mr. FancyPants, made for my momma's birthday. He's got trim at the waist and ankles, and suspenders to keep his fancy pants up. Also the first monkey with this color combo.

Here's my new dress I made this past weekend, I wore it to a job interview today and I hope it brings me luck! It's Vogue pattern 8379.

Monkeys!
Tuesday, 06 July 2010 17:54
A friend of mine is having an upcoming birthday, so I made him this monogrammed monkey over the weekend:

The party's still a few days away, but hopefully it'll be a hit!
It was a lot of fun to make a monkey, I've made quite a few different animals since making all those monkeys before, and I've noticed a huge improvement in my technique from when I started.

All work and no monkeys make Valerie a sad girl.

Houseshoes, the next generation
Thursday, 04 March 2010 15:28
Dad sent me Grandma's original house-shoe pattern, the ones she made and gave to everyone at Christmas when we were kids. I tried it, but it was horrible, and I can't tell if it's the pattern or me, since both are vague.

Disappointed, i looked to the internets to find a free, simple, 21st century house-shoe pattern, and found this lovely pattern by Sue and CrochetandKnitting.com

Mine aren't as nice as Sue's, but they're Gator colors -- GO GATORS!!

They're made using two strands of yarn at once, so they're super-thick and super-warm. I've been wearing them to bed. :)

Giant Pink Granny Square Bag
Sunday, 07 February 2010 16:23
I've just put the finishing touches on this largest-yet baby pink granny square purse. It has a hard bottom, wrapped in the pink fabric, and today I finished sewing a lining behind the strap to make it stronger (I took it to work this week and found it was stretching too much). I've also got another bag crocheted, but I have to make the lining still -- that one is white with burgundy trim. So here's the newest largest bag:

more turtles...

I've found that turtles multiply much faster than monkeys! Here's the three I did this weekend!:
